The story of the link that I'm about
to post began in the fall of 2005 when I decided to start working on an SPA
game. I was searching Google for some info about Sub's character since he
wasn't around to ask. I stumbled on Akuma's comics and was amazed to learn that
Sub was a main character. I read them, and they inspired me to include other
SASBers in the game, so I followed it up with Yoshindo's and Trinity's comics.
Thus began my nostalgia trip.
A year later I found myself on the links page of the SPA site, looking for info
about Spud and Chaos Claw. Most of the links were long dead, including, to my
dismay, Spud's. But then I remembered archive.org and found that many of them
were still viewable. Each page I linked to had a links page of its own, which
linked to other links pages and guestbooks full of even more links. I clicked
feverishly through them, traversing the branching pathway as familiar names
swam across the screen. Kreig, Blake, Chibi Shadow, Para, Tapamn, T2, even
active names like Tabcef, Noisetank, Big, and on and on with no end in sight.
Sanity almost won out, but over time the compulsion grew to explore the whole
thing. And so I share with you now the fruit of my journey. I'd always wanted
to see something like this done, but never expected to actually do it. I'm a little
ashamed of how much time I spent on it considering all the other things I have
to do, but at least I've thoroughly gotten it out of my system. So come,
reminisce, and hopefully at least get a good laugh out of this.

Oh man...
That was great. It was nice to see all of these familiar comics again,
including everyone's sprites. This was the first message board I ever
participated in, and even now it's still my favorite place to frequent when I'm
online.

I had sprite comics made with microsoft paint. They were absolutely horrible.

I think you guys were my first e-acquaintances though I never really even
attempted to have an actual conversation with any of you. And that makes me
very fond of all of you. Oh to be 13 with nothing to worry about again.
I... I can't remember if thats my sprite or not. Oh high
school weed, see what you've done? I think I made mine an all black tails
sprite. I see it in the bar and grill group shot, near the bottom right.
Damn, this makes me laugh so hard. Everything is funny after an 11 hour day at
work.
Holy...wow. I'm impressed by the
wide spectrum of my stuff that was actually in there...and I forgot I was in
one of Akuma's tournament thingies.
If only the first appearance of one of my comics in that video didn't contain
one of my most embarassing typos lol. And I remember making all of that series
in Paint...and by the time I got 20-30 comics in I considered myself a Paint
master, especially given my almost total lack of artistic skill, haha.

I was laughing the entire time because I remember all these comics, and then
just seeing my characters sprites topped it. I love how we all had recolors!

Great times, man.
Nemo, I was surprised by the spectrum of stuff you actually had. Aside
from your comic and SPA comics, you're still a character in DP's comics, and
you were in Akuma's, Yoshindo's, and Master Espeon's tournaments (there's even
a hand drawn picture of you at Reyn's victory party). You were pretty active.
Madman, you were actually the only person still here that I couldn't find any
mention of at all. That Tails in the lower right is called Doomsday, and
there's another on the left side of the roof called Dark Tails and one not
pictured called Shorty from the Spike and Shorty comic series...and now I'm
tempted to throw in a black Tails and just say that it's you for
completeness...

The one on the left is the original I took from Psyguy (boy, I sure did a lot
of editing on that, huh?), and on the right I threw in a sword to complete the
package.
Thanks guys, this feels like less of a waste of time now. Maybe I'll show it
off at MGcomics too. Akuma would probably get a kick out of it.
And what, no love from Subby? I would've thought this'd be your kind of thing.
(Big the Cat500) Oh man, I'd say "MEMORIES FLOODING
BACK" but in truth I never really do forget this place. How could I, since
it was the first real online community I joined and as sad as it may be, this
place has had a large effect on my childhood.
Honestly though I'm mostly just embarassed about how I used to act. The sprites
- especially mine - represent alot to me, mostly how immature I used to be. I
mostly feel like I messed alot of things up.
Though aside from kicking myself, there are alot of positives here. This board
really is the closest thing I've ever had to a small community of friends -
boards now are too large or just dead. I mean comparing SA and LUE to how SASB
was, and it's just no contest. You never really get to know anyone on those
boards.
This is really the only board I've ever considered a "home" online,
and SASBers even now - are more significant to me than fellow LUEsers or SA
goons.
SASB may even be why the Sonic series is still something I hold closer and to a
higher level than any other game series. I can talk about Sonic in a way I just
can't other game series, and it's kindof hard to say why. Especially since, I
grew up a Nintendo fanboy and not a Sega fanboy, but now I consider Sonic to be
more my childhood thing than Sega, even though in the true SNES-Genesis war I
was on Nintendo.
Okay I'm going to stop ranting and rambling, there's no real point to doing
this anyway but I don't care enough to delete or backspace so whatever. I'll
just post and get some sleep.

Ah, SlipknoticSonic; better known as "SAIYAN SONIC". He was the guy
who got 150 emblems in Sonic Adventure 2 then posted the save so everyone could
play Green Hill for the first time.
Lol; my sprite wasn't even edited. I didn't have cool
photo-editing tools or the talent to pull off a sprite-edit back in the day. So
I used this sprite I got from Psyguy's site:

Still; I don't think it needed to be edited. I was "SonicTH"; all I
really needed to do was differentiate myself from Sonic so this was probably
the most appropriate sprite anyway.

Fixed the sprites and added the
hand drawn pic of Chris Dark, and one of Indi tying up T2 and Ryan (by T2).

I don't think I ever would've posted so much if I hadn't been the first one to
get all 180 emblems on SA2... Since I basically just kept updating, got it,
found out what it unlocked, put my file online for everyone to download... and
then from then on I received so many e-mails and topics and such, that it
started to grow on me. Shortly after it evolved into SASB, then I became very

This is Starfire, Sutarufure, and early on when I joined this board I was
HyperMetalSonic something or another...
I did the Chao Mafia and Starfire's Inferno stuff. God, it's like another
